JFC I'm going to be sick. 🤮 TIL Cloudflare budget alerts get sent at the end of your billing cycle. $10 alert isn't gonna do moving forward. Hit me with strategies for shutting off services when exceeding intended limits. This was from a runaway process in 2 durable objects. pic.twitter.com/mR9QPVivbh
Boyd describes the first billing alert
Read on 𝕏Boyd says this was their first billing alert and first time exceeding the threshold. His report describes the same Standard Agents incident as Justin’s.

This is the first billing alert we've ever gotten, and the first time we've ever exceeded our alert threshold. At least we know how they work now... pic.twitter.com/Z4PaGiAl3T

Woke up to a $8,846 Cloudflare bill. 2 Durable Objects deep in our stack infinite looped. There is no way to set spending limits in Cloudflare. We found out by getting the bill. What if it had been...10 Durable Objects? 100? pic.twitter.com/wNzP6i6BVf

Update: Some really awesome DO folks have reached out about this. Hoping for a happy ending🤞. To be clear, this is our fault for shipping an infinite loop. It's also every startup's worst nightmare. Mistakes happen.

This isn’t a dunk? It’s just self deprecating humor. Also cloudflare charged our card the full amount. Haven’t heard anything from them on our ticket. I’m a big cloudflare fan. Confused at your outrage here.

OMG. Cloudflare fixed it 🟠 Even though the $8,846 bill was our fault (2 looped durable objects), their team was kind enough to make a bill adjustment for us. 🧡 https://t.co/0V8QyABSjq
